In a field of ten year old cherry trees, we establish a relationship between the Nordic tradition of the cemetery-wood and the Mediterranean tradition of the cemetery-edifice to realize a program that does not disturb the exisiting beauty and serenity of this enclave. The project is based on the superposition of two realities and two geometries which, by contrast and tension, enhances its identity: the lattice of the cherry trees and the clear and abstract geometry of the tombs. As for the plan view, the architecture is compressed into long, narrow fringes arranged delicately between the cherry trees along the contour lines. As far as the vertical line is concerned, the architecture rests on the mantle of leaves, respecting the scale of the trees, which makes it possible at all times to discern what is visible beyond the volumes, making the space legible as a whole.
